Introducing WME’s New Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) Rate

West Mercia Energy (WME) is pleased to introduce a new and highly competitive Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) rate of 8.5 p/kWh, available to our customers through E.ON Next, delivered via npower. This enhanced rate provides schools, local authorities and wider public-sector organisations with a valuable opportunity to maximise the financial return from their renewable energy generation.

With many schools, academies and councils investing in solar PV and other renewable technologies, having access to a strong SEG rate is more important than ever.

What is the Smart Export Guarantee?

The Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) is a government-backed initiative that pays organisations for the excess renewable electricity they export back to the grid.
If your site generates electricity through solar PV, wind, hydro or other eligible renewable technologies, any unused power can be exported, and you’ll receive a payment for every kWh.

In simple terms: if you generate clean energy and don’t use it all, SEG ensures you get paid for sharing it with the grid.

WME to facilitate SEG application process

To make the process as smooth as possible, WME will be facilitating the application process for customers. This includes:

Ensuring your metering is set up record export generation
Support in gathering the correct information for your application
Liaising with npower/E.ON Next on your behalf
Ensuring your application is submitted accurately and efficiently

This service allows schools and public-sector organisations to access SEG income with minimal administrative burden.

Scheme Eligibility

To qualify for the scheme:

Your incoming supply must be contracted with WME / npower.
Your generation scheme must not already be registered for FIT or another SEG scheme with a different provider
Your export capacity must not exceed 5MW
