On 1st April, West Mercia Energy (WME) completed the significant transition of switching our Flexible Electricity Framework to npower Business Solutions (nBS). This move involved transferring over 8,500 electricity supplies, marking the commencement of a new 4-year relationship between WME and nBS.
The success of this switch, with an outstanding 99.8% timely transfer success rate, is testament to the diligent management and collaborative efforts of both WME and nBS.
The transition to a new supplier is often met with apprehension, especially when dealing with such a large number of supplies. However, many months of detailed planning, and shared expertise, experience and resource ensured a streamlined process resulting in a smooth transition and minimal disruption to WME's public sector customers.
The high success rate of 99.8% timely transfers is credit to all involved.
WME’s Head of Energy Procurement and Energy Services, Julie Wassall oversaw the project on behalf of WME, commented, “We are delighted with the outcome of the switchover and the timely transfer success rate. We consider this to be an excellent start to the new framework and are pleased that our public sector customers can now start benefitting from the framework”.
Both WME and nBS are excited to commence the new framework which has been nearly 12 months in the planning.
Sarah Middleton, Public Sector Sales Manager at nBS added, “We’re pleased with the results of the transfer and are delighted to be able to start the new framework with a solid foundation. Both nBS and WME have invested considerable time planning and preparing to ensure we achieve the best possible start. We've learnt that the sharing information and knowledge has been integral to the success and we’re committed to continuing this open approach throughout the framework term”.
This new framework will support the ever-changing needs of our customer base, as we revolutionise public sector energy procurement towards a net-zero future. As well as benefiting from defined quality standards supported by robust KPIs, the framework covers a wide range of additional areas including net-zero products and solutions, the provision of a Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), and social value.
The flexible framework provides a simple and compliant route to market and will be available for any public body to access. It can be used to facilitate the flexible procurement and supply of electricity to Half Hourly metered, Non-Half Hourly metered and Unmetered supplies.
This flexible approach to energy procurement is often favoured by the public sector, given it is widely viewed the most risk managed way to procure energy.
