2025 has kicked off with a flurry of events, with the WME team attending 3 education-based conferences over the last few weeks.

These events provide an excellent opportunity for us to engage with new and existing clients and share our industry knowledge and expertise with education leaders.

In this blogpost, we reflect on a busy start to the year, and what is to come in the months ahead.

January - Birmingham Association of Schools Business Managers Conference (BASBM): On 28th January, WME exhibited at the BASBM Winter Conference at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham. The conference was attended by over 140 delegates representing schools and academies from across the city. As the energy supplier to Birmingham City Council, a significant number of delegates were WME customers, and it was great to hear such positive feedback as to the service they are receiving. We also had significant interest in our new Education Decarbonisation, and Water Frameworks.

February - Confederation of Schools Trusts (CST) Finance and Operations Conference: WME are proud to be a recognised supplier by the CST and on 6th February we exhibited at their Finance and Operations Conference in Birmingham – An event bringing together MAT Finance and Operations professionals with content to reflect their wide varying job responsibilities. The event was well attended with over 300 delegates representing Trusts across the Country. Gavin and Kathryn offered advice and support to attendees, with particular interest around how we can help to negate rising energy costs through risk managed energy procurement while also supporting Trust's sustainability goals.

We are a committed supporter of the CST and look forward to supporting their National Conference later in the year.

February – EdExec Live, Manchester and North West Conference:
Our third conference in as many weeks took us to Manchester, where we attended our first EdExec conference, which was being hosted in partnership between the Institute of School Business Managers and the Stockport Association of School Business Managers (SASBM). The event saw 150 delegates with plenty of interest in our DfE Approved Energy, and Decarbonisation Frameworks.

This is the first of four Edexec conferences we will attend this year. 2025 will be a record year for us in terms of conference attendance which will see us in Bristol, Cheshire, Liverpool, Worcester and back in Birmingham later in the year.

As we look ahead, in May, WME are hosting our own Customer Conference, which will be held at the Croud Meadow, home of Shrewsbury Town. This annual event provides an opportunity for WME and our key suppliers to share important market and industry insights, with our customers.

We look forward to seeing as many customers as possible at all of our upcoming events and encourage you to pop by and say hello, if you see the WME team at any event over the coming months.
