WME Appoint new Head of Energy Procurement & Risk Management

WME have appointed Lee Tucker to the new position of Head of Energy Procurement & Risk Management.

We are delighted to have strengthened our energy trading team with the addition of Lee who will now lead the department.

Lee, who joins from nPower Business Solutions where he held the role of Client Portfolio Manager, will oversee WME’s energy trading and risk management function, which procures over 1.1 TWh of energy each year, for over 100 public sector organisations.

WME Managing Director Nigel Evans said: “I am delighted that Lee has joined us as our new Head of Energy Procurement & Risk Management.

This is a critical new position for the business as we continue to develop and expand whilst navigating the ever-challenging energy landscape. Lee’s considerable energy trading knowledge will supplement and enhance the resource we have within this key area of the business, and I am delighted to have his experience on board”.

Lee added “I am excited at the opportunity to work at a large public buying organisation having previously dealt with several similar organisations in my role at nPower.

I was drawn to the challenge of developing and managing the risk management strategy for a portfolio of WME’s size through using my experience and understanding of both the UK wholesale market and of how energy suppliers currently operate. I am also looking forward to exploring new opportunities in the renewable energy sector which may be suitable for our portfolio”.

This new position is one of three which supports a company-wide restructure designed to add resilience to the business and support the successful delivery of new contracts.

The restructure has seen Julie Wassall take on the position of Operations Manager, and two Team Leader positions filled by John Morris, Billing & Pricing Team Leader and Dave Cranmer, Energy Services Team Leader.

Recruitment of a Billing Administrator and an Apprentice Business Administrator are in progress to complete the restructure.
