About Us

When set up back in 1989, we were tasked with providing cost effective energy procurement for our four Member Authorities. That core aim remains today; however, it is now relevant to all of our “external” public sector customers which now vastly outnumber our Member Authorities. In fact, it still sits within our mission statement, which is to “provide a cost effective, trusted and hassle-free energy solution, while supporting our customers’ environmental ambitions”.

The energy industry has a reputation for being complex and unfortunately some use this to their advantage, not always providing best advice, and not always delivering with customers best interests at heart. At WME, trust, transparency and professionalism embedded in our core values.

We see our customer contracts as partnerships and believe that you cannot build a successful partnership without these core values.

Maintaining these values have helped us through the challenges posed by the industry over the last few years. Feedback has shown that this approach is valued by WME customers and has brought us closer to them. One schools quoted, “During times like these I am glad we are working a trusted and reputable energy partner, like yourselves”.

We pride ourselves on the personal approach that we deliver to our customers, and we have a small, dedicated and highly experienced team of 17 members of staff. While we are one of the smaller Public Buying Organisations, we believe this allows us to deliver a more personable, high quality service to our customers. We take time, get to know our customers, their specific challenges and requirements.

Our customer retention rate for 2022/23 was 99.6%, which is testament to both our continued value for money through our energy procurement performance, but also our high service levels.
